Some Questions

This is some research for my Senior Project. Just leave some answers if you want to these questions:

1. What is a nerd? What is it being a nerd?
2. Who is the best Star Trek captain – Archer, Janeway, Sisko, Picard, or Kirk?
3. Which is better – Star Wars or Star Trek?
4. Are you born a nerd or do become one?
5. Do you play D&D? If yes, why?
6. Are there different types of nerds? What types? Which kind are you?

Thanks!

Oh baby right up my dungeon.

1)A nerd is someone who does his flash animation about a goblin and heroic pillgers (me).

2)Picard: He may not have gotten as many chicks..but the dude went from human to borg to human again. Thats pretty righteous.

3) Star Trek...I'd honestly say I've seen Star Wars more than Star Trek (casual viewer) but George Lucas blew it with Episodes 1 2 and 3.

4) Nerd is achieved like Nirvana.

5) Yes, because I can get 20d6 sneak attack bonus on a d8 weapon and have you killed before the surprise round ends.

6) All nerds share the same genus, but species may differ. Just a thought :)

1. I always felt nerds were more into math and science than pop culture (or literature).
2. No idea.
3. I've only seen Star Trek.
4. You probably become one.
5. No way (because it seems like a waste of my time).
6. Probably math nerds & science nerds. Pop culture kids and science fiction and history buffs are more like geeks.

Being a nerd is being passionate about what I love despite the majority of the populace thinking it's uncool. Picard is the best captain, he always looked so stately. I am perhaps one of the only nerds that has never seen any of the Star Wars movies so I have to go with Star Trek. You become what you are based on life experience. I don't think anyone should intend on being anything other than themselves. I don't play D&D. If I did I would be wasting too much valuable time in the fantasy realm, and I don't like wizards and the like.

I'm a music nerd. Which I like to think is more a music aficionado.

Actually... I think that is what every nerd is, just an aficionado of some sort :D

Ya research for concept class :p

1.I like Whit's answer for this, that you are addicted to something that is not popular with society. And it could be a variety of things; Anime series, fantasy series,Star Wars,Star Trek,Math,Pez and so many things. And the person is so addicted that if you make fun of whatever it is they are really offeded.
2.Kirk
3.Star Trek
4.I think you become one.Because I know some kids that have star wars nerds for parents but the kid is not into star wars or anything like that.
5.Sometimes, to get my mind off homework and and its a good way to hang out with all your friends.
6.There are so many kinds just for a series of books, video game or tv shows.I am a half nerd for different books and video games.I saw half since I love them but if some doesn't like them or hates them I don't get angry or try to defend my beloved items since everyone has there own opinion.

1)A nerd is someone who has no qualms about refusing to mature despite social repercussions.

2)Picard did everything with words that Kirk did with his fists.

3)As much as I love Star Trek, it's basically a series of books with pictures, so I'm going with my first love, Star Wars.

4)I'd say become.

5)I haven't in a while, but my friends and I used to hang out at the game room of Mayhem Comics in Des Moines.

6)There are a million breeds of nerds and they're all convinced they're better than each other.

1. a nerd is anyone who is passionate about some facet of life whether its math, pop culture, anime, or nascar, regardless of the social repercussions it may earn.

2. i never really watched star trek.

3. i guess starwars. i only like eps 1-3 in the context of the lego starwars games because i don't have to listen to the mind numbing dialogue. really the story isn't so bad when no one talks.

4. you definitely become a nerd. my parents don't know what to do with my video game, comics, anime loving ass.

5. i tried it once and the first time my character leveled up and i had to do all the math on paper, i quit. to hell with that. final fantasy does the math for me.

6. fandom ranges from the casual participant to those who celebrate harry potter's birthday to those who stalk celebrities.
i consider my geek level moderate. i don't need the first edition print of every comic i read. i can wait for the trades.
